TRAVEL INSURANCE

It is strongly recommended that you be insured against medical and personal accident risks (including repatriation costs, air ambulance, and helicopter rescue services) and that you also take out cancellation insurance. You should be aware that some policies restrict coverage or do not cover travel to Bhutan and may not cover activities such as trekking (and mountain bike). Please ensure that your policy provides a sufficient level of protection and covers you for the activities involved. You must carry proof of insurance (e.g. your insurance certificate) with you to Bhutan.

Travel to Bhutan: Foot Mark Travel and Adventures handles the whole booking process on your behalf, including Druk Air and Bhutan Airline flights. However, the price of flights is not included in the package and it is, therefore, advisable to book well in advance to secure seats. We also handle visa application processing (included in the package). It normally takes 2 to 3 weeks to process the visa but under some circumstances, we can accelerate the process.

DAY 1

Arrival, Paro-Thimphu.
Our guide will welcome you at the airport, once you have settled in your first foray into the Kingdom. Since you all have an early flight, You all can relax in the hotel after lunch in the town. Only in the evening, you all can explore the Paro market.

DAY 2

Paro sightseen:
Today after your breakfast, You all will have a great time exploring Paro valley taking the highlight of Paro Dzong. Paro Dzong was built around the 17th century by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Later you can also visit the old Dumtse Lhakhang which was built by the famous iron bridge builder called Thangtong Gyalpo. It was built in order to subdue the local spirit of that particular village. Then break for lunch. Later on, visit the Kichu temple which is very old in the country. It was built by King Songtsen Gyenpo around the 7th century.

DAY 3

Paro Taktsang hike and drive to Thimphu
Taktsang Hike. One of the most amazing and important pieces of architecture in Bhutan, Taktsang Goemba defies logic, gravity, and reason. Legend has it that this Cliffside was where Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) landed on the back of a flying tigress, bringing Buddhism to Bhutan from Tibet. To avoid the hot sun an early start is advisable for the two-hour climb to the Tiger’s Nest viewpoint. Descend steeply, and then climb up to the monastery, passing a waterfall and entering through the main gates which are filled with murals. Retrace our steps or alternatively. In the evening, Drive to Thimphu and take rest with the dinner in the hotel.

DAY 4

National Day celebration: Today it is going to be a great day for all the Bhutanese people in the country. Every year we celebrate December 17th as our National day since out the First King of Bhutan was crown in Dec 17th, 1907 in Punakha Dzong. Thereafter our Monarchy was established. Today all the government institutes, schools across the kingdom celebrates the Day. You will have a great opportunity to witness the songs and dances performed by our local people as well as the monastic body. You will also see the great dances performed by the monks during festivals. Later break for Lunch and in the evening visit, the weekend market or you have the option to visit Dzong.

DAY 5

Punakha sightseen:
Today after breakfast you all will have a wonderful day enjoy ing the beauty and scenery of the Punakha District. You will be ascending to Dochu la pass with 108 stupas making the pass most beautiful. It stands at the elevation of 3110m above sea level. Spending around 1 hour, then you will be descending to Punakha passing thick forest entering into the subtropical zone. Later enjoy Lunch out there.
After that visit the most beautiful Dzong in Bhutan. It was built by the great leader who came from Tibet around 17 t h century. Punakha is the winter Capital of the monastic body headed by Je- Khenpo who is the chief abbot of Bhutan. It used to be the Capital during the third kings time. There are 400 monks in the huge fortress (Dzong). You will have a clear view of the Dzong surrounded by two rivers called Pochu( male river and Mo-chu( Female river)

DAY 6

Tsirang Tour: Today after early breakfast You will have a long day drive which might take around 5 hours including stops on the way. You will be passing through two biggest hydropower projects which are still under construction. We will be stopping on the way to take pictures of the waterfalls and beautiful scenery of the south. Today we will be taking the Picnic Lunch with us and in the evening we will have a great time to see the sunset view as well as we will have a chance to see the birds also.

DAY 7

Tsirang Local sightseeing. Today after your breakfast, you all are taken to the country site through a gradual hike. On the way, we will have the opportunity to see the valley with the farmers. Let’s have fun to see this countryside and let’s have lunch in one of the friend’s house. Since it is a peak orange season in this time of the year, Let's enjoy with oranges. After Lunch, we will explore further south in the evening to see the great Hornbills (endanger spices of birds of Bhutan) as well as other birds. Evening explores the town but does not expect handicraft items since tourism just started over here.

DAY 8

Depart Bhutan. A Druk Air or Bhutan airline normally departs in the morning, so after breakfast, your transfer to Paro International Airport will be arranged depending on the flight schedule.
